One of the panels I led was on uses of AI. The focus was on legit uses of AI that aren't theft of the intellectual property the AI was trained with.
One of the audience members is using chatGPT to construct religions for his D&D campaigns. The religions it creates tend to have internal inconsistencies, which suits him perfectly.
One might be snarky and say the internal inconsistencies and not making sense add realism to his fantasy world.
I'll be doing a similar panel on AI at the NASFiC in a couple weeks. This panel was a great way to find some new topics to throw out at my next panel.
The convention also set aside a high-traffic corner (adjacent to the restrooms) for folks to busk.
I decided to try the busking. I've never done it before, but, who knows?
I picked up a folding display board at the dollar store, printed some book-cover replicas and pasted them to the board, and presto, a not-horrible looking display sign.
I sang for an hour. One person almost slowed down as they headed to the bathrooms.
I can understand the need to not pause and listen under those circumstances.
Why nobody stopped to listen on their way out is another matter.
In the end, I sold no books, handed out no bookmarks, and, with a single person slowing down, did better than anyone else I saw busking.
