These are some of the things C. Flynt has been up to, some of our personal lives, some reviews of things we've read, some stuff we've learned.

The blogs are organized by date.

Comments will appear when we've had time to check them. Apology for the inconvenience, but it's a way to keep phishers and spammers off the page.

A couple weeks ago Caz decided that he didn't like the way I made my bed, and he'd rearrange the blankets into a proper heap so he could sleep comfortably while I'm working. This is mostly a problem because his yank-and-pull style of re-arranging reduces structural integrity of the blanket.

So, I implemented the standard Systems Administrator solution and removed user access to the bedroom with a standard issue pet gate equipped with a small cat door.

Caz behaves (more or less) if I'm in the bed, so I prop the door open when I sleep, allowing him to steal the covers.

The trouble with removing user access is that users are so clever about working around restrictions. We won't mention how many restrictions I've worked around to actually do the job I was hired to do.

In Caz's case, if the pet door is closed and he wants to get into the bedroom, he goes through the cat gate.

That is, he tries to go through the cat door. Caz's head is about the size of a cat, and he just gets bigger from there. However, is motto is "Brute force and persistence." If he can't squeeze himself through the cat door, he can pop the latch on the pet gate if he pushes hard enough.

Then, presto, he's in the bedroom and no blanket is safe.

So, having failed with the first standard Systems Administrator solution, I moved to standard solution 2 : Upgrade the hardware. This week Amazon delivered a nice new dog-proof blanket. That blanket is now on my bed and the human-grade blanket has been mended and put into storage.
